The Kia EV6 GT is set to step on the heels of the Porsche Taycan Turbo

What kind of world can kia catch up with in any way? Simply put – the world of electric cars. At least according to Autocar magazine, which interviewed Albert Biermann, former head of BMW M and head of development and research at Hyundai Motor Group and current development consultant for the Kie EV6 GT – among other things.

He told the magazine that developing the high-performance EV6 variant was not originally planned. Work on it did not begin until the developers realized the possibilities of the E-GMP platform and all the development is their own.

Gros pedaling the Porsche Taycan Turbo is of course in motion. The EV6 GT is supposed to retain a 77.6 kWh battery from the versions already sold, but the rear electric motor is to increase its output to 367 hp thanks to the addition of a second inverter.

The total power of the car should therefore be 585 hp and torque of 740 Nm, which should be enough to accelerate to a hundred in 3.5 seconds and a maximum of 259 km / h. The mentioned taycan has 95 horses more, but at the hundred it is only 0.3 s faster and the maximum speed is only 1 km / h higher.

Today, the EV6 offers a maximum of 325 hp and 605 Nm from two electric motors, one on each axle, which is enough to accelerate to one hundred 5.2 s and a maximum speed of 188 km / h.

In addition to the battery capacity, the GT version will also be able to charge up to 350 kW, which should ideally charge the battery from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes. The range on a single charge should be up to 423 km.

According to Biermann, the EV6 GT will be a real grand tourer. “We started with the GT for the stinger and it is always the highest variant in the model’s offer. It’s not a race car, it’s a different story. It is built for long-distance travel and offers high speeds, but also driving experiences, “Biermann magazine quotes.

The engineer apparently referred to the Ioniq 5 N, which sister company Hyundai is also developing. The technologies will be similar and, for example, the improved electric motors will be shared by both cars, but the characteristics of both cars will be fundamentally different, which the variability of the platform allows.

What will not change much on the EV6 GT compared to the civilian versions will be the design. Photos are not yet available, but Autocar talks about a slightly modified hood, bumpers and a small spoiler at the stern.

The car is to be on sale sometime later this year at a hitherto unknown price. However, it will certainly be higher than 1.5 million crowns, where the most expensive version of the EV6 currently sold starts.
