The Japanese, without Russia, have crushed the world figure under themselves. They don’t even want to share with the Americans – Sport24.ru – online sports news in Russia and the world

In Finland, the men’s single skating tournament ended at the fifth stage of the Grand Prix. The results of the short program were unexpected, as two strong skaters barely made it into the strongest warm-up.

Eventually Kevin Aimoz from France was able to win bronze and rise from fifth place after the first day of competition. This was almost impossible, since the skater’s application included only one quad – a sheepskin coat. A good performance and perfect skating helped him get 176.09 points. There were some small mistakes: in the triple axel-double axel sequence Kevin made a butterfly on the second jump, performed the final triple flip from an obscure edge and into a step-out. The components played a big role – Aymoz is at a completely different level of skating skills, and the legendary “Bolero” looks perfect in his performance. This is very complex music and more often than not only spoils the image of an athlete. The Frenchman was able to play it interestingly and present it in a completely new way.

By the way, after the skate, Kevin said that for a long time he did not want to take this legendary music – too many great skaters performed “Bolero”, including Kamila Valieva at the 2022 Olympics.

The Japanese remained in second place Sung Sato. He won the free skate, but did not have enough points to make up for the short program. At the box office, the skater performed a quadruple lutz, a quadruple toe loop and a quadruple toe loop cascade – a triple toe loop. There were minor inaccuracies in the jumps: only a double Salchow in a combination with a triple Axel and a double toe loop in a combination with a triple loop. These little things blurred the exits from the elements, which affected the GOE. Sun performs to Vivaldi’s “The Seasons” cycle. This is a fairly “convenient” classic for figure skating – everything is melodic and understandable, it’s easy to put a program on it without complex ideas and solutions. The Japanese tries to convey the mood as accurately as possible, shows high-quality skating, but so far he lacks individuality. For the free program, Sato received 182.93 and 273.34 in total.

Won the fifth stage of the Grand Prix Like Miura. In the free program, he lost only two points to his teammate, but still had one more in reserve after the short program. Therefore, with a total of 274.56, it is this Japanese who takes gold. Kao also has three quadruples in the box office, but they are lighter: a salchow and two toe loops (one in a combination with a triple toe loop). He had no mistakes in performing jumps – he was often let down by unclear and short exits, which is why the bonuses were quite modest. His program is much more interesting – the soundtrack to the cult anime “Attack on Titan”. Only the middle looks strange and not entirely organic, where they decided to change the rhythm to a slower and more lyrical composition. According to the second assessment, Kao is stronger than Sun, so his victory with a clean box office was expected.

As a result, most likely Sato and Aymoz will not make it to the Grand Prix final, since the current world champion will compete at the final tournament of the series Sema Uno and Yuma Kagiyama. If they share first and second place, then the Espoo winners will have no chance. It is very sad that in the final we will most likely not see two excellent skaters and actors on the ice – Aimoz and Matteo Rizzo, who also failed the short.
