The Israeli military said the attacks targeted the Palestinian organization Hamas’ “main rocket manufacturing facility” in the Gaza Strip and a Hamas tunnel in the southern coastal strip.
The attacks came after Palestinian militants from the Gaza Strip fired a rocket towards the Israeli border on Saturday night. It was the first such incident in a month.
The Israeli military confirmed that the missile defense system had not been activated and that there were no reports of casualties or property damage.
In early November several rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.
On Thursday, two militants of the “Islamic Jihad” terrorist organization were killed in an Israeli army operation in the West Bank of the Jordan River. “Islamic Jihad” is a particularly active group in the Gaza Strip, frequently carrying out rocket attacks.
The situation in the occupied West Bank has been tense for several months. After several attacks on Israelis that began in March, the Israeli army has stepped up its raids.
