He told me he doesn’t use his cell phone often, only 5% of the time. This statement is quite different from most people who sometimes depend on cell phones every day.
Telephone arena reported that 46% of people from the United States (USA) in one survey spent 5-6 hours with cell phones per day. While 11% of them use their mobile for 7 hours or more a day.
Before creating the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X in 1973, Cooper had the idea of creating a mobile phone that users could take anywhere. Meanwhile, HP in the car was very popular.
Cooper wanted a phone that was “small enough to fit in a pocket but big enough to fit between ear and mouth.” Also, his wish was that everyone had their own phone number.
Motorola loved the idea and invested millions of dollars to develop it. The result is a DynaTAC 8000X that weighs 2.5 pounds and is 10 inches long.
The battery can last 25 minutes. However, it takes a good 10 hours to recharge, contrary to current technology with built-in fast charging.
The DynaTAC 8000X was only released 10 years later at a price of US $ 3,995. The pricing is pretty fantastic even for today’s smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 which just launched a while ago.
