About it writes dailystar.co.uk.

In 2016, the Guinness Book of Records recognized him as the heaviest person in the world.

Juan’s weight problems began as a child. When he was only six years old, he already weighed 63 kg. But an injury during adolescence only made things worse, and by the age of 17 he had grown to over 228 kg.

Since then, he has only gained weight. Juan broke the world record when he was 32 years old. Because of his enormous weight, he was already bedridden, and it took eight people to move him.

The man was forced to wear diapers because he could not get out of bed and go to the toilet.

After asking for help, a Guadalajara obesity specialist agreed to operate on Juan, and for the first time in seven years, he got out of bed to undergo a life-changing operation.

While in the hospital, he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, hypertension, and fluid in his lungs.

By 2017, he had lost over 165 kg, which was enough for him to be allowed to undergo life-changing gastric band surgery. After a successful operation and a change in diet and exercise regimen, Juan continued to shed pounds – by 2019, he had lost a third of the weight.

In three years, Juan lost an incredible 330 kg and weighed 260 kilograms. For the first time in almost ten years, he was able to get up and walk.

Speaking about the transformation to local publication Telemundo, he said: “Just being able to raise your hands and get up every day, get up for a glass of water or go to the toilet, makes me feel great. It’s fantastic to be able to move more and be more self-sufficient.”

But in 2020, Juan’s personal life took a hit when he lost his father to a heart attack and three months later his mother died of Covid-19.

Juan also contracted the coronavirus, but his dramatic weight loss meant he was able to overcome the illness.

At the time, he said his world record was “not something to be proud of” as he warned that Covid-19 was “not a lie” and urged other obese people to take their weight seriously.

He said: “We must stop eating badly, we must take up sports and change our lives.”

Juan’s surgeon, José Cruz, credits his weight loss with helping him make a full recovery from Covid-19, as well as other health issues.

He added: “What is interesting is that his diabetes, hypertension and all diseases are under control. He is a healthy person, and the proof of this is that he was infected with COVID and it did not affect him.”

Prior to the pandemic, Juan was about to undergo another operation to remove the excess skin, which is estimated to weigh over 63 kilograms. However, the loss of his parents, the closure of his small business, and delays in treatment due to the pandemic meant that he had to wait for the last step on his weight loss journey.

But the 39-year-old insisted that this would not stop him from working towards a healthier future. He said: “This is what my mother wanted me to achieve and I will continue to fight for it.”

Recall that a woman who weighed 158 kilos lost half her weight. She show what it looks like now.
