Growing up in Berlin Neukölln, it was clear to the two brothers Dennis and Isaac Kyere and their friend Nelly early on: they wanted to earn money through dancing. The three have been dancing together since 2006 and founded the “MIK Brothers” from the artist collective “MIK Family” – a long and difficult journey.

Dancing saved her, says Dennis. With 20 or 30 “kids” they trained every day. His brother Isaac talks about their time at the Otto Hahn School: “It’s also one of the worst schools in Neukölln, you could say.” However, he managed to complete his master’s degree as an industrial engineer. Above all, his passion helped him. “Dancing meant I didn’t get caught up in any machinations, but I actually managed to keep my focus,” says Isaac.
Money worries accompanied the beginning of the MIK Brothers’ career
The start of her career was accompanied by money worries. The young people took part in dance competitions (so-called battles) where they only had enough money for the outward journey. “That means you had to win these battles to get back home. It was really hard work,” says Dennis Kyere.
Hard work that is more than paying off today. The three content creators are enormously successful on social media and reach an audience of millions with their videos. Her acronym MIK – “Mindset is Key” – is appropriate. They believe that anyone can make it with the right attitude.

Social media helps the three share their videos and thereby generate an enormous reach. An opportunity that everyone has, because the Internet allows you to become a star with a video, explains Isaac Kyere. You should try things out, look at other success stories and look for role models.
Isaac talks about a dance challenge that he created in one of his videos. “And then Neymar did my dance challenge to celebrate a goal and you think to yourself: ‘What?!'” The dance group was also surprised by a famous fan at the Met Gala. Naomi Campbell recognized the boys and screamed excitedly when she saw the three saw, says Nelly.
From a former problem area to the stages of this world
The three of them used to train in a dance school in the former Berlin problem district of Neukölln. Today they stand on the world’s biggest stages and inspire millions of people with their work. However, the three of them don’t know who is watching them closely. These moments are always good for a surprise.
