Military expert Roman Svitan recalled the important informational significance of Bakhmut for the Russian occupiers.
Even realizing the senselessness of holding control over a certain section of the front, the Russians cannot afford to lose it, because they fell into an “information trap,” as Roman Svitan said. The reserve officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the enemy would hold on to the territory of no particular strategic importance in the Bakhmut region and the city itself to the last, even if it was necessary to withdraw troops from other segments of the front to strengthen the defense.

The military expert said the following about the significance of the front section in the Bakhmut region for the Russians: “Everything was filed in such a way that the Bakhmut-Soledarsky ledge, which, in principle, any general would have done so that they would have long since left there and retreated to Popasnaya. This is called the alignment of the front and a controlled withdrawal, but they cannot do this, because the Soledar-Bakhmut ledge is so inflated with information that the withdrawal from this ledge will be perceived by Russian society as the loss of Crimea. For them, it’s about the same. It’s called an information trap.”
The reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about the plans of the military leadership of the Russian Federation, which could dramatically change the situation on the fronts of Ukraine: “They will definitely transfer troops from the Kherson and Zaporozhye directions, first to reinforce in the Bakhmut area in order to prevent our breakthroughs or the destruction of this ledge. They are more likely to leave the Kherson and Zaporozhye directions, leave the Zaporizhzhya nuclear plant, but they will sit in this Bakhmut-Soledar ledge, because for them the information trap for the Russian people will be much more powerful with the loss of Bakhmut and Soledar“.
