Every year the government sends an invitation for the flu shot to everyone who is at extra risk of becoming seriously ill from the influenza virus. The flu shot is seen as the best protection against flu. This means that employees do not become ill or become less ill. An employer therefore has an interest in the employee getting a flu shot. But making the flu shot mandatory: he is not allowed to do that.
A healthy and safe working environment: that is a task for both employer and employee. The employer must ensure that he takes all necessary measures and gives his employees clear instructions about this.
