The Impact of Rapid Electromobility Transition on the European Car Industry and Beyond

According to a number of experts, as well as laymen and owners of ordinary cars with internal combustion engines, the transition to electromobility is proceeding at too rapid a pace. Instead of letting the market decide what powertrains will eventually prevail, or having different powertrains side by side, there is a huge push to end internal combustion engines as quickly as possible.

The old days are ending

After all, a date has already been set in Europe when cars with today’s common drive units that run on gasoline and diesel will stop being sold. The year is 2035, but even before that, more sticks will be thrown under the feet of these cars and automakers to make these cars as unattractive as possible. We are, of course, talking about the Euro 7 standard and other measures that will undoubtedly follow.

In addition, car companies cannot invest huge sums in electric mobility and classic mobility at the same time, and since it is already clear what the future holds, even if forced, they threw themselves fully into electric cars and have already relegated combustion ones to the back burner today. Many models will no longer have followers, and some traditional brands, such as Seat, are ending completely. In short, it is the breakdown of the European car industry as we know it.

Few people realize, however, that this has a much wider impact on all companies that in some way do business in the field of motoring. These are gas stations, for example, which basically end their business. Although they already sell food, refreshments and operate car washes, if they cannot sell petrol and diesel, they will basically stop.

Great competition will force a new type of service

One of the largest, the Shell company, which also operates in the Czech Republic, has already announced its steps for the future, when it will definitively stop selling these fuels. He’s planning a station that will sell anything but dirty old fossil fuels. You can comfortably charge your electric car here, but you will also need hydrogen or liquefied natural gas in bio form.

This is an interesting step, although Shell will keep some gas stations for now, but it will gradually switch to these new mobility centers. You might be wondering why he doesn’t leave stands with classic fuels here, but the fact is that lovers of electromobility probably won’t want to recharge at a classic gas station.

The competition in this regard is huge. Charging station capacities are being built by electricity providers who see this as a huge opportunity. And in addition, there is also the possibility of recharging at home, which was not the case with gasoline and diesel. The operators of the stations must therefore make a real effort to attract customers to them, and this will probably only go to ultra-modern centers where you can spend your time qualityly while recharging.
