“The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Visual Culture: Ethical, Social, and Artistic Implications”

The arrival of artificial intelligence in our lives has both positive and negative consequences, AI is expected to change the way we create and consume visual content. In addition, it can affect not only the art world, but also various industries close to it, such as advertising, film and game industries.

It is important that we continue to discuss the ethical and social implications of the use of artificial intelligence, such as how data and personal information protection issues are addressed, and how it can facilitate or hinder the representation and accessibility of different cultures and viewpoints. It is important to educate the public about AI and its impact on visual culture to ensure that people are able to understand and critically evaluate the visual content that is produced with this technology. This can help prevent misinformation and manipulation of visual content that can become potentially harmful to the public.

We have received confirmation that photos created by artificial intelligence can win art competitions. Most recently, the mass media looked at an example where it was possible to clearly see how artificial intelligence has already influenced the world of art – a photo created by the German artist MI won the photo contest. This begs the question – how and can we evaluate photographs created by humans and artificial intelligence according to the same criteria? It cannot be denied that artificial intelligence is also capable of creating stunning compositions and color schemes, competing with artists. But controversy exists over what should and should not be considered a “real” photograph.

The rise of AI-generated imagery is a new trend in the visual arts that could change the way we think about creativity and art. Therefore, art practitioners and theorists need to engage in the research and use of artificial intelligence. Although it is not yet clear what the future of AI will be, how the technology will develop and whether it is here to stay in our lives, it is necessary to continue to study it and explore the possibilities associated with artificial intelligence. As technology continues to evolve, we are likely to be exposed to forms of art and expression that we have not even thought about before.
