The Hope Probe launches its sixth data packet in early January

The Emirates Mars Exploration Project, the “Probe of Hope”, is preparing to launch the sixth package of data and observations of the Red Planet, in early January 2023, through the information center platform of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, at confirmation of the UAE’s commitment to share this valuable scientific data free of charge with the scientific community around the world, in order to help scientists, researchers and those interested in space science to understand the phenomena and interactions that occur in the atmosphere of Mars, where data is published in quarterly batches, i.e. every 3 months.

And with the launch of the sixth package, the “Probe of Hope” completes its primary mission of mapping the atmosphere of Mars, after having spent a Martian year “two Earth years” studying the atmosphere of the red planet, where it will be organized a special session held on the scientific results of the mission in the “European Science Union”. Since its arrival in the orbit of the Red Planet on February 9, 2021, the Hope probe has been able to provide information totaling about 1.2 terabytes, within 5 batches of high-quality data and images, as well as record new discoveries of climatic phenomena on the Red Planet, with the interest of the scientific community and astronomy enthusiasts from all over the world, knowing that the size of the downloaded data has reached 2.5 terabytes.

And last October, the Emirates Mars Exploration Project provided the fifth 236.8 gigabyte package of images and data with a size of 236.8 gigabytes, which covered the period between March 1 and May 31, 2022, and included Specialized scientific observations to study the motion of data taken by the Digital Reconnaissance Camera and new observations by the Ultraviolet Spectrometer of the Red Planet’s upper atmosphere, made about once a week, are a high-resolution look at the disc’s wavelength Martian.

Early last August, the project announced the delivery of the fourth data package amounting to 118.5 gigabytes, as it provided a new set of scientific observations related to the Martian atmosphere, in particular the monitoring of ultraviolet spectrometers, particles of solar energy and galactic cosmic rays, through an experiment he conducted by observing what the device captured when it was closed, and the exploration digital camera was able to take special high-resolution images by monitoring the movement of the dust.

In early April, the project released the third package of 29 gigabytes of data collected by the spacecraft between 1 September and 30 November 2021, which helps experts and scientists broaden their understanding of climate change on the Red Planet . the exploration camera monitored 9 photos on November 22, 2021, with the aim of studying the movement of winds, observing the phenomenon of cloud formation and the movement of dust storms.

In early February, the Emirates Mars Exploration Project delivered the second package of science data, amounting to 76.5GB of unedited data, from 23 May to 31 August 2021.

And in early October of last year 2021, the project provided the first package of scientific data, amounting to 110 gigabytes, collected by the three scientific devices of the probe in the period from February 9 to May 22, 2021, and during the first 10 days after this data was published and made available. For the scientific community worldwide and those interested in space science, 2 terabytes of information has been uploaded from the Scientific Data Center to the Emirates Mars Project website Exploration Project, of which 1.5 terabytes is in the form of exploration camera data.
