The heirs of the English writer Arthur Conan Doyle sued Netflix

They accused the company of copyright infringement when making a film about Sherlock Holmes’s younger sister, reports The Independent. We are talking about the film “Enola Holmes” – an adaptation of a series of books by science fiction writer Nancy Springer about the detective’s younger sister. The main role in the film should play Millie Bobby Brown. In 2014, the successors of Conan Doyle ceased to receive royalties for works about Sherlock Holmes written before 1923, since the court recognized them as public domain. Now the heirs of the writer claim that Netflix borrowed elements from 10 works of the writer, written between 1923 and 1927. The rights to them still belong to the Conan Doyle family.
