Microsoft and Epic Games started a solidarity collaboration last week in order to raise funds for Ukraine. In two days, through Fortnite, they managed to add about 40 million dollars to help the country. Almost a week later, the figure has exceeded the barrier of 70 million.
A laudable initiative with results echoed by the official Fortnite Twitter account. “Together, we have raised $70 million in humanitarian aid for Ukraine,” says Epic Games through the profile, “congratulations and thank you all, and Xbox, for joining forces!”
To his words have been added those of Phil Spencer. The head of Xbox has replied to the same message with the next:
“I’ve known Tim Sweeney, Mark Rein and many of the Epic team for almost 2 decades. It’s really cool to see the role they’re playing in the industry right now. This fundraiser is going to do a lot of good, I’m proud to be able to collaborate with them.” Well done, Fortnite community.”
The bell will end on April 4 and, given that this week interesting news is also expected for the game, such as the coexistence of modes with and without construction, the forecast of the $100 million raised for Ukraine doesn’t sound crazy at all. Will Fortnite get it?
