The head of the culture committee in the parliament was a flight attendant – 2024-03-02 23:43:25

/ world today news/ Polina Karastoyanova, deputy chairperson of the PG of the PF and chairperson of the Committee on Culture and Media in the National Assembly, in a conversation with Iliana Benovska on Radio K2.

“Mrs. Karastoyanova, are you personally satisfied with the fact that you will be the chairman of the Commission for Culture and Media?” Benovska asked.

“The situation is difficult, given the situation that has arisen”, said Karastoyanova and shared that she accepts as a great responsibility the opportunity to express the interests of the cultural class and the media.

“We simply have a commitment to do certain work according to the competences of the Commission”, believes Karastoyanova and added that there are upcoming meetings with the estates.

“When are you going to face the real problems? Is the presence of the so-called culture a problem? “Trolls” on the Internet who, through unforgiving writing, denigrate everyone?” asked Benovska.

“This is primarily a problem of personal culture,” Karastoyanova believes.

“Is this escalation of vulgarity a problem of culture? Yes or no?” asked Benovska.

“On a personal level, of course, I will agree with you, but in terms of what we should do – I would look for the answers to this question together with the people who work in this field”, said Karastoyanova.

“We expect a new spirit, innovations from you. What new will you bring in?” asked Benovska.

“I am ready to hear your proposals,” said Karastoyanova and expressed readiness for joint work with the estates. The new chairman of the Committee on Culture and Media believes that it is proper to discuss the issues not only in the Committee, but also to discuss them with representatives of the classes.

“It is likely that a law concerning the media will be adopted, which will introduce the right of the relevant supervisory authority to implement all its decisions in advance, without waiting for the judgment of the court. Will you intervene in the adoption of such a law, which would offend the freedom of speech in the media?”

“It is necessary to first familiarize myself with the law in question before commenting on it,” said Karastoyanova.

The national representative once again expressed his desire and willingness to address and solve the problems in the sphere of culture and media through sharing and discussion.

Karastoyanova revealed that she had a meeting with the actor Hristo Mutafchiev, with whom they discussed many of the problems of culture. The PF deputy set an example with his meeting with the popular actor and expressed the opinion that this is the way to work in the future.

“There are day-to-day problems and conceptual problems that will come into play at a later stage, but perhaps with greater force. Will you have the discretion to separate these two types of problems?” asked Benovska.

“I don’t see myself as a person who has a personal and specific meaning. My task is to organize the work in the commission”, said Karastoyanova and expressed the opinion that the important thing is to seek consensus and non-partisanship in the work of the Commission.

“How will you deal with the attacks against you? They picked you up right away – you were a flight attendant, you were not up to par, your expertise was not dignified, authoritative, etc., Benovska asked.

Karastoyanova expressed calmness about the attacks and said that for her the period in which she worked as a flight attendant was extremely useful for her development.

“This profession teaches discipline and a sense of responsibility”, believes the representative.

“Do you have the authority and competence to head the Culture and Media Commission?” asked Benovska

“I have made a commitment and I believe that I will do my job,” answered Karastoyanova.
