Avignon tour guides demonstrated Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in front of the Palais des Papes to attract the attention of public authorities. The crisis linked to the coronavirus epidemic has put an end to their activities.
To mark the spirits, they put themselves on stage: each guide present wore a mask with a cross and deposited a red stone, in front of the palace, to which was attached a message, each stone symbolizing each “dead guide“.
This is how it read: “Romane, 24, salaried guide, no partial unemployment, no unemployment rights, no RSA.”
In the absence of a uniform status, many professionals fall between the cracks and cannot obtain the aid put in place by the government.
