The grid rent increases as soon as the power support is over

On 1 April, several grid companies will increase their grid rent, and a sharp increase in electricity tax is also expected, writes Aftenposten.

The price of people’s online rent can increase by between 10 and 15 percent, according to the newspaper. Some other network companies increase their prices as early as 1 February.

The government’s electricity subsidy basically lasts until the end of March.

Due to the sharp increase in electricity prices at the end of last year, the costs for the grid companies of losing electricity in the grid became much greater in 2021. In addition, many of the grid companies had planned the introduction of a new model.

– We had originally planned an increase in grid rent of approximately 7 percent in connection with the introduction of a new grid rent model at the turn of the year. Then the introduction of the new model was postponed until 1 July. We have therefore chosen to postpone the price increase until 1 April, says communications manager Morten Schau in Norway’s largest network company Elvia to the newspaper.

The state electricity tax will also increase from April to 19.26 øre / kWh incl. VAT. This means an increase of 73 percent from the level this winter. But at the same time, this is also a reduction of almost 8 percent compared to the same month last year.
