The city council in The Hague has approved the construction of the new tallest building in the city. More than 1,400 rental homes will be built in the The Grace complex.

The Grace consists of two towers, one over 150 meters high and the other over 180 meters. The ministries on Turfmarkt are 146 meters high and therefore lose their title as the tallest building in The Hague, you know Broadcasting West.

House shortage

During a city council meeting tonight, objections were also raised, such as an increase in wind nuisance. “But for us, the arrival of 1400 homes is more important than wind nuisance,” said councilor Joren Noorlander of D66. Another point of criticism was the limited number of parking spaces that residents will soon have.

Hart voor Den Haag, the largest party in the council, still has many objections to the construction of The Grace. “A lot has not yet been arranged, such as greenery and facilities,” said council member Constant Martini. Yet that party also agrees, because of the great shortage of housing in the city.

2025

There will be a total of 1411 rental homes in The Grace. 30% of this will be social housing and 20% will be an apartment in the middle segment. The remaining part will be a home in the free sector.

The construction of the complex will cost about 250 million euros. Construction is expected to start this year. The Grace should be ready in 2025.
