The government will support the spa, it found inspiration in Karlovy Vary

One billion crowns will be released by the state to support the Czech spa industry, as part of vouchers. This was announced yesterday in Karlovy Vary by the Minister for Regional Development Klára Dostálová. Together with Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Minister of Industry Karel Havlíček, she met with representatives of the city of Karlovy Vary, the chairman of the Karlovy Vary section of the Association of Hotels and Restaurants, Jan Kronika, and Eduard Bláha, president of the Association of Medical Spas of the Czech Republic.

“From July 1, a government voucher will apply. We discussed again how to attract foreign clients here, on which the local hotels depend, “said Prime Minister Babiš after the meeting. “We also agreed on the opening of the Schengen area and dealt with the provision of visas to foreigners,” the prime minister added.

The government vouchers, which will be under the responsibility of the Ministry of Regional Development, are inspired by the Karlovy Vary ones. While you aim to support hotel clients, governments will support spa guests. “On our website or the CzechTourism website, the applicant will generate a given hotel that offers spa services, obtain a unique code and immediately receive a discount,” said Minister Dostálová.

The condition is that the guest must spend at least six nights in the spa and use at least five treatments. Then each person will receive a voucher for four thousand crowns. According to President Bláha, the savings for spa guests could amount to around fifty percent.

“Vouchers will be valid from July 1 until the end of the year. If the released one billion crowns is not used up for them, the program will continue next year, “added the Minister for Regional Development.

In addition, the government wants to negotiate a “Covid accommodation” program to compensate hoteliers for losses.

As Mayor Andrea Pfeffer Ferklová added, out of a total of 3250 vouchers issued by Karlovy Vary, 1390 have been issued so far.
