The government wanted to cut subsidies to tornado victims by people’s donations. We will change that, Dostálová is suffocating

“The maximum aid is calculated as the difference between the total cost of renewal or acquisition, the amount of insurance benefits paid, the amount of other state aid and the revenue from the public collection,” the controversial document states.

The tornado in the Břeclav and Hodonín regions provoked a huge wave of solidarity. More than a billion crowns were quickly raised in the public collections of various non-profit organizations and foundations. The idea that the state would want to deprive victims of this money has greatly outraged many people on social networks.

Minister for Regional Development Klára Dostálová, whose department is responsible for the rules, therefore tried to calm the situation on Twitter on Tuesday and made sure that the rules would change.

“It simply came to our notice then. We will change the regulations at the next government meeting so that you can concentrate on the renovation of your houses without any worries, and it did not complicate anything for you, “Dostálová promised.

At the same time, she apologized to the victims for her insecurity. “I know you are probably experiencing the most difficult moments in your life. We never wanted to reduce the subsidy by donations, “he claims.

Subsequently, the Minister, through her Director of the Communications Department, sent a new opinion to the News.

“I want to assure you once again that no one intended to take donations from public collections and reduce the subsidy for them. Paragraph 7 of the relevant government regulation responds to compliance with budgetary rules in order to avoid so-called double financing – ie so that one and the same cost is not reported twice. However, it creates uncertainty for you, so we will change the regulations, “the minister wrote.
