The government plans to allocate 8,538 euros to parents of triplets born in the Riga Maternity Hospital

In the new week, the Cabinet of Ministers will decide on the payment of a one-time social benefit of 8,538 euros (after taxes) to the parents of triplets born in June at the Riga Maternity Hospital.

One-time material support is provided to families with triplets, by paying a social benefit from the state budget program “Contingency Funds”.

Since 1993, one-off material support has been provided to families with triplets in the form of social benefits.

Amount of one-time social benefit in case of birth of triplets 2010-2013. In 2014, it was 6,000 lats after taxes, but since 2014 – 8,538 euros after taxes.

The benefit is paid by the Ministry of Welfare.

The one-off social benefit is intended for the material support of a family in which the triplets were born, taking into account that the simultaneous birth and care of three children results in significantly higher additional expenses.

In 2013, the one-time social benefit was paid to one family, in 2014 – to five families, in 2015 – to three families, in 2016 – to two families, in 2017 – to two families, in 2018 – to four families, and in 2019 – for one family.

In June, triplets were born in the Riga Maternity Hospital. All three newborns are boys.
