The Government Ensures that Buying and Converting Electric Motorbikes Get a Subsidy of IDR 7 Million

Good news for all electric motorbike lovers in Indonesia, because now you can be sure that every purchase of an electric motorbike unit or a modification of a gasoline motorbike to electricity will receive a subsidy of IDR 7 million.

As quoted by detikFinance, the government will announce an electric vehicle subsidy policy in the near future.

This subsidy is given for the purchase of a new motorbike as well as for the conversion of fuel-powered motorbikes to electric motorbikes. This was immediately conveyed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana.

Rida confirmed that the subsidy given to electric vehicles is IDR 7 million. This subsidy is given for the purchase of a new motorbike or conversion or modification.

“So ensuring all kinds of preparations because what Pak Luhut has said and known together with the top leadership is firm that there will be incentives to massively encourage KBLBB in the future. One of the incentives is in the form of assistance which was Rp. 7 million for those who buy motorbikes new or converted ones,” explained Rida in a press conference at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Monday (30/1/2023).

Incentives or subsidies are the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry

Furthermore Rida explained, for the time being incentives to purchase new motorbikes were distributed by the Ministry of Industry.

“This kind of distribution is temporary, the new incentive distribution is carried out to the Ministry of Industry, where, of course, from the Ministry of Finance,” said Rida.

Meanwhile, incentives for converting or modifying electric vehicles go through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Rida said details of incentives for conversion are being detailed. “Those who convert through us (ESDM). Of course we are finalizing the details, so that later in time it will make it easier for users, recipients of incentives,” he concluded.
