The Government Decides to Use Moderna for the Third Vaccine of Healthcare Workers

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin say vaccine Modern will be used for the third vaccination of health workers (Nakes). Budi said health workers are a priority group that must be protected from the Covid-19 virus, especially from the new variant.

The selection of the Moderna vaccine, said Budi, was the result of discussions with the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI) and the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

“We have discussed with BPOM and ITAGI as independent advisors regarding this vaccination, and have agreed that the third vaccination will be given using the Moderna vaccine,” Budi said at a press conference, Friday (9/7).

Budi hopes that by giving the third vaccine injection to health workers, it can provide immunity. Budi said health workers must be protected to the maximum in order to carry out their duties.

“We have to protect them desperately so they can concentrate on their work,” he said.

Budi said the Moderna vaccine is planned to arrive in Indonesia on Sunday (11/7). He also plans that the third vaccination for health workers will start next week. Meanwhile, for the details of the implementation, Budi said it would follow later.

It is known, BPOM said that the Moderna vaccine was included in the emergency use listing (EUL) list from the World Health Organization (WHO). In fact, BPOM said the Moderna vaccine was effective against mutations of the corona virus variants B117 Alpha, B1351 Beta, and P1 Gamma. Meanwhile, the latest evidence for the B1617 Delta variant has not been reported.
