The glasses are the reason for a significant last minute amendment; iOS 17 to receive greater coverage than initially anticipated.

Operating system iOS 17 is knocking on the door, and the speculation about the new version of the system was fueled by Marc Gurmann during the weekend. That is, a Bloomberg journalist, who is traditionally very familiar with everything happening at Apple. Although only very small and cosmetic changes were previously expected from this year’s iOS generation, thanks to which the system should have a much smoother launch without errors than the first version of iOS 16, Apple turned 180 degrees at the last moment.

Apple is said to have completely changed its strategy at an advanced stage of software development, and iOS will receive several new “worth having” features. Although we are not expecting anything as significant as, for example, a redesigned lock screen, these should still be useful functions that will not be limited to numbers in the iOS system. And while earlier it was said that the most important novelty would be glasses for mixed reality and that iOS 17 would stand more in the background, in the end it will probably be completely different.

These are all devices compatible with iOS 16. However, with iOS 17, some phones seem to disappear from the bottom of this list…

Perhaps because even Apple employees themselves are skeptical of the new Reality Pro glasses. It is not customary for employees working on the American giant’s products to speak to the media, and it is even less common to express uncertainty. Some of them did not believe in the project before, and withdrew from its development at their own request. And we are talking about a device that should generate at least the same wave of enthusiasm as when Steve Jobs announced the first iPhone in 2007.

But the expected price of around 3,000 dollars (almost 80,000 crowns with tax), the absence of any above-standard application, the necessity of using an external battery that will have to be replaced after a few hours with a new charged one, or a design that is not very comfortable for some testers – it does not look like the revolutionary product that everyone expects from Apple. However, the apple giant wants to gradually improve the glasses, in the style of the Apple Watch. Their first generation was rather embarrassing, slow and with limited options. Eight years later, however, these watches completely dominated the market.

iOS 17 comes at a difficult time

Apparently, Apple decided that, in addition to glasses, iOS would need to be given more care, so the system will receive several new features. Among other things, the new version is expected to support sideloading, i.e. installing applications outside the App Store. And this can mean both downloading installers online and alternative application stores. Android users are familiar with both of these options.

Another new feature is said to be an improved iMessage application with a new home screen and a focus on chat rooms, video clips and chatting in augmented reality. iOS 17 is also supposed to bring better stability and efficiency when using system apps, and a pairing app for Apple’s glasses should also be part of the system.

The first version of the system will be presented at the developer event WWDC, which is scheduled to take place on June 5, 2023. The system will probably not arrive in compatible iPhones until mid-September. Its user premiere will be associated with the new generation of iPhones.
