the Gerland vaccination center is targeting 2,000 injected doses per day

The Sports Palace will be redeveloped overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in order to speed up the campaign.

The Gerland vaccination center is increasing the pace. Since January 14, the Palais des sports de Lyon has been welcoming patients. And since March 14, it has been running seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. As of Thursday, 2,000 people will receive a daily dose there, compared to 400 originally and 1,500 currently.

> The screening center is moving

With a view to welcoming new patients and inoculating the new doses of vaccine delivered, “the center will be completely transformed”, indicate the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL) in a press release published on Monday. Thus, “on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the PCR screening center will be moved to the Petit Palais des Sports”.

“This increased capacity requires a complete rethinking of the circuit for vaccinated people, in order to guarantee them the same fluidity and the same secure support as today”, explain the HCLs.

> New appointment slots available

The reorganization of the Sports Palace will allow caregivers to take care of up to 2,000 people per day, or 14,000 per week. As a result, “more than 8,500 time slots have been opened since the start of last week in order to reach 2,000 injections per day, including public holidays”, underline the HCL.

Appointments are always made via Doctolib. People aged 70 and over are eligible, whether or not they suffer from co-morbidities. Health authorities ask patients to bring their social security number at the time of the appointment.

“The appointment for the second dose of vaccine (period of 4 to 5 weeks) can be fixed on site or via Doctolib”, it is also indicated.

> Five new centers soon to open

Five new centers will open by mid-April, announced Serge Moray, deputy director general of ARS Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, on Friday. They will be added to the 23 already open in the department. The objective is to ensure that the territory is “well meshed to reach the 75 years and over, less mobile”, he underlined.
