The Minister of Health agrees to study the Valencian proposal

The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, in a press conference after the appearance of Barceló, has stressed that the territorial unit of reference for de-escalation is the province and the island, but has opened the door to studyr other proposals put forward by communities, such as Valencian Community and Galicia.

He recalled that the Government’s plan contemplates that the autonomies will be able to do different approaches in this sense, but that will be studied as long as these are supported by technical reasoning and they meet the criteria required of territorial units for the transition plan.

Currently, the Valencian health system is divided into 24 health departments, which are not necessarily limited to the provincial limits, since some of these departments cover territory that includes two provinces.

Examples of this are the Sagunt Health Department, which includes municipalities in the province of Valencia and Castellón, or the Denia Department, which includes municipalities in Alicante and also Valencia.

The Ministry of Health expects to be able to meet the indicators that are required to go from one phase to another, and believes that we are in a position to achieve this, although it asks for the collaboration of citizens. Barceló has also said that the Community will be the one to propose the time zones for the exits of the citizens in an orderly way and to guarantee the maximum security against contagion.
