The gastroenteritis epidemic intensified during the first week of January in France, according to estimates by the Sentinelles network. Consultations in general medicine increased with 326 consultations for acute diarrhea per 100,000 inhabitants, against 289 the previous week. The regions most affected by gastrointestinal last week are New Aquitaine (462 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), Grand Est (426) and Pays de la Loire (415).
Not serious except for infants, very sensitive to dehydration, these symptoms normally disappear after 48 hours. To protect yourself from this, you must respect a few hygienic rules: wash your hands, do not kiss, drink from your own glass. It is advisable to eat foods that slow down transit, such as apples, quince, pasta, rice or potato.
