Producer and presenter of The Game Awards Geoff Keeley visited The Fourth Curtain podcast and talked about the 2023 GOTY candidates.

Keeley isn’t ready to predict which game he thinks will win, but as a producer he’s excited about the strong competition in 2023.

As a producer, I like this situation because anyone can win. And the nominees will be discussed a lot. Some games won’t make the cut, so there will be plenty of drama in November too.

Geoff Keely, producer and presenter

The presenter believes that Elden Ring’s victory in 2022 was predictable, even given how players and critics received God of War Ragnarök. This time, it seems to Kili, anyone can win.

The producer also noted the number of nominees, indirectly confirming that it will not change. Previously online assumed, that at The Game Awards 2023 the GOTY category may be expanded to accommodate more games worthy of a nomination. But it looks like this won’t happen.

There are two or three or even four games that could win this year, and as the creator of a show like this, that’s what you want. Six nominees, no top contenders.

Geoff Keely, producer and presenter

The Game Awards 2023 will take place on December 7, and nominees will be announced in mid-November. This will be the tenth ceremony.
