Another solution for the same problem. If a few days ago we counted the project of the 10 m2 houses as an alternative – utopian for now – to a massive future in the cities, today we present you another modality to gain space in the big cities: the ‘ground scratchers’ or, what is the same, underground buildings

One of the most striking examples of human crowding is Mexico df. There the billionaire Carlos slim It has become one of the forerunners of buried construction. The Mexican businessman already has the underground aquarium largest in the world and now has built a shopping center in Mexico City: the ‘garden santa fe’, with an underground area of 65,000 m2 on six levels

However, the mall is just the tip of an iceberg that has its greatest exponent in the ‘rascasuelos’ project, one of the most controversial urban initiatives of the last years. From the bnkr architecture studio estimates that the value of the work will be 10,000 million dollars (more than 7,000 million euros) and will reach a dimension of 775,000 square meters

“Due to the low availability to construct new buildings and the restrictions of architectural characteristics of the area, our best solution was to build down“, explained Esteban Suárez, co-founder of bnkr to the American television channel CNN

According to the plans of the ‘rascasuelos’ project, the building It will have 65 levels in which homes, businesses and offices will be installed in the main square of the city. The promoters of the plan contemplate the seismic danger in the country and are calm: the highest technology will be used in this regard and the capital is not in the most ‘hectic’ area of the country
