the future college of Haillan is ready to emerge from the ground

Work on the future school which will accommodate nearly 700 secondary school pupils has just started. The college will be able to welcome the first students from the start of the 2022 school year

Eighteen months of work will be necessary before the second college of the municipality of Haillan, located at 58 rue Edmond-Rostand comes out of ground. “Extremely impacted by population growth,” underlines Jean-Luc Gleyze, president of the Gironde departmental council, this future establishment will respond to the demographic challenge facing the department.

Exclusively financed by the Department to the tune of 30.4 million euros, the college will cover nearly 8,622 m² and will accommodate nearly 700 secondary school pupils. Located on the edge of a wooded park, the project’s architect, Audrey Pedezert, explains that she designed “a living space conducive to diversity in a functional building integrating the surrounding nature”.

The future establishment is intended to be very bright, made of natural materials such as wood. Exposed to air pollution, an effort has also been made on acoustics as well as on its environmental impact with the presence of photovoltaic panels.

Very committed to the question of the feminization of street names, the mayor of Haillan, Andréa Kiss submitted the idea that this future college bears the name of a recognized woman. To the best of my mind!
