The free-to-air TV channel BILD will be showing a game live on each match day of the coming season of the Handball Bundesliga. The game kicks off on August 27th with German champions THW Kiel playing newly promoted HBW Balingen-Weilstetten (3 p.m.). PICTURE (Like WELT, it belongs to Axel Springer SE) says it does not produce its own transmission, but shows the signal from the new sports TV provider Dyn, in which the media company Axel Springer holds a majority stake.
There will be further live broadcasts at no additional cost on ARD and ZDF. Thanks to sublicenses through their joint sports rights agency SportA with Dyn, the public broadcasters are allowed to show up to twelve Bundesliga and cup games.
The contract between SportA and Dyn also gives Das Erste and Zweite TV and internet rights for up to twelve Bundesliga and cup games. Bild will also show a live game from the 1st league on every match day. The basketball broadcasts start on October 1st.
Dyn starts broadcasting on August 23 with the Handball Supercup. The paid sports TV platform of the former DFL manager Seifert and the media company Axel Springer SE offers a program with five different sports.
