The Four Seasons hotel group has acquired the Hotel Danieli in Venice, the oldest and one of the most prestigious hotels in the city. The Danieli, hitherto managed by the Marriott chain, will become one of more than one hundred properties of Four Seasons, the company of which US entrepreneur and philanthropist Bill Gates has recently become majority shareholder with an investment of approximately $ 2.21 billion. The hotel, which has its headquarters in the fifteenth-century Palazzo Dandolo in Riva degli Schiavoni, a few steps from Piazza San Marco, will be renovated with an investment of around 30 million dollars. In 2018, the old owner risked insolvency for a debt of around 94 million euros, which was then covered by the British TCI fund.
