“The players were keen to win and for the last, they wanted to give me a little gift. “. On departure, David Banquet lived his last match as a coach within the staff. The former pillar who took control of the fray at the start of 2020 will not continue the adventure with the Stadium. He will not be on the bench either in Vannes or against Oyonnax due to a small medical intervention.
Stade Aurillacois wins against Montauban (read the live again)
For his final exit with the coach’s cap, the Libournais was entitled to an exit from above, with forwards who responded present in the fight. Modest, David Banquet did not expand on the subject, but we felt a hint of emotion and also of logical and deserved pride.

Directly at the end of the game, the technician had been placed in the front row for the clapping facing the Marathon stand. A beautiful goodbye for those who knew how to blend into the Aurillac universe.
2. Proper use of recovery balloons
Aurillac only scored two tries, but each time these achievements came from a clear and pleasing desire to play from his own camp and even from his 22 meters. The first, although registered on maul, after a touch and with Adrian Smith sent into the in-goal by more than 10 teammates, comes after the Stadium has come up the field with play.
On the dismissal following the 13-12 penalty from Palmier, the opener raises by hand, serves Niko who pierces, passes Bouyssou with a chistera, before the Cantaliens insist on moving the ball with a very good traffic.
The second try comes after a turn-over in front of the twenty-two Cantaliens, and a clear breakthrough by Yobo who put the turbo to serve Valentin who came to support before the winger finished the job to flatten near the poles.
I know Jimmy can go on his own, I call him, he looks at me and gives me the pass. I say thank you to him. It’s a great end-of-year gift for me.

3. A defense that regains consistency
Ripped apart in Carcassonne, the Cantal defense has returned to the standards that have been its own this season, especially at home.
Particularly present in the engagement, with a good reading on the rucks to hinder the exits of balls and put the Montalbanais at fault, the Stadium was clean, particularly in the first twenty minutes, with – among others – Pierre Roussel who was often one of the first to get the ball after a tackle.
Maxime Profit after Aurillac-Montauban (25-20): “We really wanted to win and have fun”
The Auvergnats were not effective only on the rucks. Against Tarn-et-Garonnais who had not come to close the game and who had several formidable “X factors”, there were many replacements and saving defensive returns on Friday evening.
In this role, Rolland, Profit and others have done good. And what about the buffer administered by Niko in the first period?

4. A host embryo more related to the Pro D2
By being a bit caustic, we will say that we should not despair of anything and that, sometimes, miracles happen. Lagging behind in terms of reception and service like no other club of this level (even on the lower floors), the Stadium had taken a small step to offer those perks that make a stadium a place to live.
In addition to the small pancake stand already seen at Jean-Alric, Aurillac had welcomed its first food-truck into its enclosure. An embryo of revolution which is clearly the path to follow for the future. What all other clubs have understood for ages.
Jean-Alric’s bar system reviewed… and clearly to be reviewed for the Stade Aurillacois
One thinks of the dozen foodtrucks and other stands of a club that has made the lift (Valence-Romans), the duck breast sandwiches of a dean of pro D2 who surfs on his land (Mont-de-Marsan) or the sausage patties of a recent bastion (Vannes), the banda and the bodegas of Colomiers, or even the refreshment bars of Bourg-en-Bresse where it was possible to be served two types of premium beer at the table and in payment by credit card.
The list would take up an entire page as all the Stade counterparts compete in inventiveness to care for their public. The room for improvement is enormous, but where there is a will, there is a way. The Cantal region and the products it contains are like a gold mine in terms of image. Aurillac has every interest in digging into this still virgin seam.
