The founder of UDF – Society died

Today, after a short illness, Mr. Tonev has left this world, BNR reported.

He was one of the founders of the UDF, a member of the UDF CC, an MP, and later the founder and chairman of the Bulgarian Democratic Union (BDU). The sad news was announced by Nikolay Milev, a member of the Management Board of BDO

Mr. Tonev was born on November 29, 1955 in Dimitrovgrad. He graduated from the German Language High School in Burgas and German Studies at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, majoring in German literature.

He was a member of the UDF parliamentary group in the 38th National Assembly in the period 1997-2001 and a member of the Committee on Education and Science. Tonev was a member of the UDF leadership in the period 2002-2003 and 2005-2008

Tonev was the author and compiler of books on Christian Democracy.

The worship and the funeral will be on Wednesday, from 12 o’clock in his native Dimitrovgrad.
