The flat tax has support in the Chamber of Deputies, but specific parameters will be addressed – ČT24 – Czech Television

At present, the flat tax does not have to be paid to everyone; An example might be tourist guides because of coronavirus crises just suffered tourism a significant decline. According to the Prague guide Olga Žáková, the situation would be different if the great demand returned.

But tourists are slowly returning. Eva Vondrusová, for example, would consider a new measure planned for the beginning of next year. Less administration would be welcome. “It might be interesting, but the revenue is not such. For myself, I would still consult with an accountant, but I would definitely be interested, “says guide Eva Vondrusová.

If it took advantage of the flat-rate tax, it would automatically lose the right to further discounts, such as taxpayers or children.

Monthly payment 5740 crowns

Now a monthly payment of 5740 crowns is expected. Includes tax, minimum health insurance contribution and increased social security contribution. At the end of June, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Jana Maláčová (CSSD) said that due to unprepared IT systems, her ministry would not be able to prepare a flat tax from January. But now she had changed her mind.

“We are used to working miracles at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. We do everything to make it happen, but it’s not just up to us, it also depends on IT communication with health insurance companies, financial administration, “says Maláčová. “Cooperation at the technical level has started, for me the deadline is insurmountable, I will do everything to ensure that the flat tax is effective from 1 January 2021,” states Minister of Finance Alena Schillerová (for YES).

The flat tax is also supported by the opposition

As such, the flat tax also has support among opposition parties. However, some people already like the set income limit of eight hundred thousand crowns less, originally the Ministry of Finance counted on one million. As the head of the ministry admitted – it was a compromise with the coalition CSSD. Opposition MPs will want to change the proposal.

“We will make an amending proposal to increase it from eight hundred to one million crowns, which is the limit from which VAT is paid,” explains the chairman of the SPD movement, Tomio Okamura.

“Even a turnover of two million for both the flat tax and VAT would have its own logic, and after those years it would correspond to more reality,” says Jan Skopeček (ODS), deputy chairman of the parliamentary budget committee.

The Pirates would maintain the government’s form – also because if an entrepreneur exceeded the limit, it would mean a higher tax burden. “We will focus on the issue of jumping on the edge of the flat tax, and we would certainly not increase the limit of eight hundred thousand,” says Mikuláš Ferjenčík (Pirates), Deputy Chairman of the House Budget Committee.

The Communists, in turn, would reduce the border to six hundred thousand. “It seems logical to us to be in line with the threshold used by EET, but I think we are able to understand other numbers as well, there is no major barrier here,” said Jiří Dolejš (KSČM), a member of the House Budget Committee.

The bill, which introduces a flat tax, was supported by deputies in the initial round of discussions at an extraordinary meeting in early July. They should return to the draft at the September meeting.
