The Flamboyant parade show of the 50th cultural festival of Fort-de-France has seduced

Day 2 of the 50th Fort-de-France cultural festival, with the traditional carnival parade. Groups on foot, street orchestras and “bradjak” (old crackling cars), showed their creative power on Sunday July 4th. The art of resilience and existence have merged.

The 50th Fort-de-France cultural festival called “Quintessence” continues until July 22, 2021. For its 2nd day, a carnival parade was offered to the public.

Under a radiant sun, festival-goers took possession of the streets of the city throughout the afternoon of Sunday, July 4. Groups on foot, street orchestras and loud old cars (the “bradjaks) made their summer holiday carnival, under the watchful eye of a vigilant security service.

Competition for services

In total, 13 groups marched. Among them, the Plastic System Band, Moov, Snapchat, PomPom C’Chann or Tambou Bô Kan’nal. Each group wanted to give the best of itself, through percussions, songs, colors and choreography.

The public will in any case have appreciated the creative rivalry displayed in this artistic parade, which has punctuated the Foyalais festival for several years.

A different tone from the traditional carnival

The spectators present on the circuit showed themselves to be disciplined, which facilitated the progress of festival-goers, always so keen to promote heritage.

Note the different tone of this artistic parade “Flamboyant Show”, compared to the hustle and bustle of the traditional carnival at the start of the year, while remaining faithful to the heritage aspect. This “mutation” was also appreciated by the public.

The festival, more …

Wednesday July 7, 2021, the children have their “foyal” festival from 3pm, at the Aimé Césaire cultural park. On the menu: traditional kites, balloon sculptures, portrait drawings, mask making, dances, games, theater, parades …
