The first year with the Xbox Series console

It’s been exactly one year since the current generation of Xbox consoles entered the world market, including the Czech one. Unfortunately, there is still a shortage stocks, when the demand exceeds the supply, however, who really wanted a lot or simply registered their reservation in time, he probably got to the console by this time. Of course, there are more interested parties who respond, among other things, to rumors about great performance or console functions, or to the benefits of a Game Pass subscription or increasingly strong exclusive titles, which are gradually coming to this platform. According to available unofficial statistics, 8.44 million Xbox Series X consoles and (fully digital) Xbox Series S consoles have been sold worldwide today.

Although the first year of the new platform tends to be a bit weaker for major new games as a strong customer group is formed and developers are still learning to work with the new iron, the Xbox Series has definitely not been boring for the first 12 months. Personally, I have been staring at the beauties of England in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla since day one, enjoying flash recording, high definition and reliable fluency. Among other starting games, Tetris Effect took my breath away, which shows an incredible audiovisual ecstasy on a proper television (or monitor). Likewise, Ori 2 at 120 Hz or 6K was quite a shock. However, if we look at the Xbox Series titles from the first year objectively, the ranking on Metacritic looks like this:

Top Rated Games for Xbox Series by Metacritic:

  1. Hades (93/100)
  2. Forza Horizon 5 (92)
  3. Microsoft Flight simulator (92)
  4. It Takes Two (89)
  5. Tony Hawk´s Pro Skater 1 + 2 (89)
  6. Tetris Effect: Connected (88)
  7. F1 2021 (88)
  8. Psychonauts 2 (87)
  9. Hitman 3 (87)
  10. Death´s Door (87)

Of course, some may argue that certain games on that list have also been released for the past generation, or generally on other platforms in general, but that doesn’t change the fact that they look and run significantly better on the Xbox Series than on the Xbox One. In addition, several of these games, on the other hand, are exclusive to the Xbox on console platforms (Microsoft pursues a policy of releasing all of its games on a PC), including two titles from the top three. We also saw these games from day one “for free” as part of a generously priced Xbox Game Pass subscription. And Halo Infinite is still waiting for us this year.

Quick Resume is a key advantage of the Xbox

Game Pass subscriptions are usually the strongest argument made by people buying a new Xbox. However, I have to say that after a year with all the new and old consoles, the Quick Resume feature will come to me as the most demanding player (playing / finishing a large number of games) in the whole Xbox Series ecosystem. Perhaps everyone today plays more than one game – it can be a story for one and at the same time another for multiplayer with friends. The ability to return to various games instantly without having to restart them from the main menu is extremely enjoyable and has completely spoiled me – platforms without it already seem to me to be “behind”. Part of the comfort of the new console is also the virtually absolute silence of the machine during operation, which is another thing the competition can not boast.

Xbox on the rise

How we they wrote Recently, the Xbox Series is Xbox’s fastest-selling console yet. So it’s obvious that Microsoft has clearly started this generation, and the only question is how far and where the success of this console will go. It would be nice and beneficial for all players if the conditions between the various competing platforms were as balanced as possible, because only this will really force each of them to do their best and meet the players as much as possible – by offering content, services and prices.

Alone among my friends, gamers and non-gamers alike, I see a decent increase in Xbox owners, whether it’s a “big” variant for the more demanding or extremely cost-effective smaller version with a Game Pass subscription, which parents often buy for children (but I’ve also experienced serious gamers). who acquired “Sko” “as a second console” to another primary platform). Of course, I’d like even more great games, I’m personally happy with my first year as an Xbox Series owner, and I know that promising big and small games are on the way, whether it’s the Halo Infinite (multiplayer beta was great), Stalker 2 , Starfield or Scorn.
