The First Space Tourists Depart for the ISS Tonight

Friday, April 8, 2022 – 22:28 WIB

VIVASpaceX will launch a crew of four to the International Space Station (ISS) from Florida, United States (US). The passenger is not part of the Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA astronauts.

The four crew members are civilians who fly with a commercial aerospace company called Axiom Space. Their flights will mark the first time a traveler or traveler has visited the ISS.

This is a new type of human space mission. Flights with Axiom Space are also not cheap. Three of the four crew members have paid $55 million per seat for the SpaceX Crew Dragon.

Three of the four space explorers are rookies, namely Canadian investor Mark Pathy, US real estate investor Larry Connor and former Israeli Air Force pilot Eytan Stibbe, citing the website. The VergeFriday, April 8, 2022.

Another is veteran spaceflight travel commander Michael Lopez-Alegria, a former NASA astronaut who has flown four missions into space and now serves as vice president of Axiom Space.

“This truly represents the first step in which a group of individuals who want to do something in low Earth orbit can take this opportunity,” said Axiom Space Chief Executive Mike Suffredini.

The mission, called Ax-1, has become the latest trend in the aviation world. Human space missions are almost exclusively carried out by government-run space programs. That is changing as the commercial aerospace industry has leapt forward over the past few decades.
