Today, the review embargo for Forspoken has lifted and the first gaming publications have given the game their ratings. The game, as expected, received mixed reviews from journalists: at the moment it has only 68 points on the rating aggregator Opencritic. At the same time, only 32% of critics recommend the game. Forspoken is called bright, experimental and unfinished. The game is praised for its good combat system, but scolded for its mediocre story and setting.
It is worth noting that many gaming publications never received a review copy due to the fact that Square Enix only sent them to those who were loyal to the game, so Forspoken’s final score in a couple of weeks could be much lower.
Forspoken tells the story of Frey, a New York girl who finds herself in the beautiful and cruel Atia. To find the way home, Frey will have to travel through the vast expanses of the new world and fight monsters with the help of magic. Forspoken will be released on January 24th.
