The first European house from a 3D printer has its inhabitants, it is a Dutch couple

The Dutch Elize Lutzová a Harrie Dekkers are the first people in Europe to legally live in a house fully printed on a 3D printer. The British informed about it Guardian. The large stone house is located in the Eindhoven suburb of Bosrijik and was built by Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix as part of a project Milestone. The Technical University of Eindhoven participated in the design.

The two-room house has a living area of 94 square meters and the company plans to build a total of five. The construction was provided by a 3D printer with a robotic arm and a nozzle. The construction material was concrete, which the printer laid layer by layer as in the usual 3D printing of smaller products such as plastic. “It’s beautiful,” the Guardian quotes Lutz, and Dekkers adds that the building has a “bunker feel, it looks safe.”

The building consists of 24 separate concrete parts, which the company printed out at the factory in Eindhoven and transported to their destination by truck. Printing the house took about 120 hours. “If we printed all the basic parts at once, the construction would take us less than 5 days, because the printer does not have to eat, does not have to drink, does not have to rest. So if we started tomorrow and learned how to print houses at once, we could have another house ready in five days, ”he explains the benefits of 3D printing. Bas Huysmans from a construction company.

In addition to speed, the advantage is also higher efficiency of the construction process, where there is less waste of building material. The building is thus more environmentally friendly. Huysmans also adds that this is the first house from a 3D printer, which is 100% approved by local authorities and is also occupied by paying people. A Dutch couple pays 800 euros for renting a house.
