The first choice for Wolves

The 2020 Draft Lottery took place this Thursday by videoconference, and it was the Minnesota Timberwolves who inherited the first choice, ahead of the Golden State Warriors, for the October 16 draft.

Third worst record of the 2019-20 regular season, behind Golden State and Cleveland (finalists not so long ago …), Minnesota will have the right to choose first in the October 16 draft. The Timberwolves have indeed won the “Draft Lottery”, which was organized by videoconference in the premises of the NBA in New Jersey, coronavirus pandemic obliges, this Thursday. Much like the Cavaliers and Warriors, the Wolves had a 14% chance of inheriting the first pick and they got it, for the second time in their history (the franchise premiered in 1989), after 2015 and the arrival of Karl-Anthony Towns (still present in Minneapolis) from Kentucky.

Anthony Edwards at Wolves?

Golden State, meanwhile, will have the second pick, which may allow the Warriors to strengthen their squad after a disastrous season even though, of course, Stephen Curry and Klay Thomson will be back from injury. Charlotte, who had the eighth worst record in the League, will be entitled to the third choice, which will not hurt the franchise of Michael Jordan, author of a very disappointing season. Chicago, Cleveland and Atlanta will choose next. It now remains to put a name on these choices. Almost all of the specialist sites place Anthony Edwards, the 19-year-old Georgia college backer, in first place. James Wiseman, LaMelo Ball, Obi Toppin and Onyeka Okongwu are expected to follow, but the order remains uncertain. The French Kylian Hayes (Ulm) is also expected quite high.
