Many Chinese companies are currently working on expanding their product range in Russia. JAC extension makes similar attempts. But this company, for certain reasons, is moving in a different direction. It supplies car kits to Russian manufacturers, from which they produce cars under their own brands. So far, such cooperation has been established with Sollers (produces commercial models) and the Moscow Automobile Plant.
At the same time, JAC has a very limited product range compared to other Chinese companies. However, the current situation on the Russian market opens up new opportunities for this manufacturer. In particular, he can go back to collaborating with MAZ, with which he worked several years ago, and create a new model together. This solution will simultaneously increase the number of cars produced at minimal cost for their development.
The domestic designer said that he could imagine what such a model could look like. He announced the publication of several renderings depicting the compact pickup truck MAZ-5551 2022-2023. Just such a car could appear due to the resumption of cooperation between JAC and the Minsk Automobile Plant. The Chinese company will supply the Belarusian enterprise with a platform and power units from its compact crossovers. MAZ, in turn, can make a body for a future pickup truck.
The appearance of such a car is all the more likely, given several circumstances. First of all, KAMAZ will develop its own cars. MAZ could follow the example of the Russian company. Secondly, due to a sharp decline in car sales, the Minsk Automobile Plant urgently needs to develop new and affordable models. JAC has machines that can form the basis of Belarusian novelties. Thirdly, there is no budget shooting on the Russian market.
The combination of these circumstances leads to the fact that a small truck priced from 1 to 1.3 million rubles can appear in the MAZ model range.
