The FIL of Guadalajara will present a book with 20 years of stories and great figures of World and Latin Music

  • Historias Musicales del Barrio Cósmico is the name of this collection publication made by the Mexican journalist and music promoter Betto Arcos, host of National Public Radio, listened to daily by 10 million people in the United States.
  • It includes a discography of 300 titles and 150 profiles of figures such as Yo-Yo Ma, Jordi Savall, Silvio Rodríguez, Gabriela Ortiz, Arturo Márquez, Ana Tijoux, Celso Piña and Rosalía.
  • It tells personal, political or social stories behind the music and addresses almost all genres from Latin America, although there are also from Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Zacatecas, Zac.- Reports, anecdotes, chronicles and profiles of figures as varied as the cellist Yo-Yo Ma, the rapper Ana Tijoux, the singers Rosalía and Celso Piña, the singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez and the composers Gabriela Ortiz and Arturo Márquez is the content of the book Historias Musicales del Barrio Cósmico, authored by journalist Betto Arcos and which will be presented on Wednesday, December 1, at 6 pm, at the Guadalajara International Book Fair.

Published by Fogra Editorial, the work –in its Spanish version– is the product of two decades of work by its author, specialized in music. The collector’s edition also covers almost all Latin American genres, although there are also stories about Spanish, Arab and African artists and groups, such as El Compa Negro, an African-American singer of Mexican music.
