The Federal Council met in the Music Department of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts

The Federal Council meets once a year outside the Federal Palace and in this context also meets with the population of the cantons visited. The 15th “extra muros” session took place on October 13, 2021 at the Music Department of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne-Kriens.

Director Valentin Gloor welcomed the members of the Federal Council. He led the panel to three short concerts by students and lecturers. “The visit of the Federal Council was a great honor for us,” says Gloor. «We hope that the magistrates felt at home with us and perceived our university as an innovative, modern institution. They were certainly able to take with them strong impressions of Lucerne’s lively cultural and musical environment. ”

The idea for the “extra muros” meeting in Lucerne, incidentally, came from Federal Councilor Simonetta Sommaruga, who graduated as a concert pianist in 1983 at one of the previous institutions of the Department of Music, the former Conservatory.

Despite the special security precautions and the media hype, the university operations were not affected. According to Valentin Gloor, this smooth process was only possible thanks to the great commitment of the employees and students involved.

After visiting the Department of Music, the Federal Council invited to a public aperitif in the Lucerne Museum of Transport.
