An American F-35A Lightning II fighter is flying over Poland. It is a modern, multi-role fifth generation machine that could be observed in the morning in Podkarpacie, near the border with Ukraine.

F-35A over Poland
On Sunday, February 27, in the morning you could observe one of the most modern fighters in the world over Poland F-35A Lightning II. The machine was designed and manufactured by the American defense concern Lockheed Martin. The Americans plan that the F-35A will replace the aging F-16 Fighting Falcons and A-10 Thunderbolt II fleets, which have been the main fighters in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years.

From the official website of the US Air Force, you can learn that “the F-35A is an agile, versatile, high-performance, multi-role fighter.” The machine takes off and lands in a conventional way (CTOL – Conventional Take-off and Landing), which makes it possible to use it practically anywhere.

F-35A Lightning II is packed with modern technologies. Among them you can mention, among others an advanced sensor suite capable of collecting, processing and distributing more information than any other fighter in history, including an electro-optical distributed aperture system and an electro-optical aiming system (supporting air combat target tracking and localization). Additionally, F-35A pilots wear helmets equipped with HMD displays.

In the single-seater F-35A Lightning II, you can find the Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 turbofan engine. The machine is 15.7 m long, 4.38 m high, and its wingspan is 10.7 m. The fighter can move at a speed of 1.6 Ma, which is nearly 2,000. km / h. A fully fueled F-35A can cover a distance of over 2,000. km. However, it is adapted to air refueling, which means that its range is really unlimited.
