The Excruciating Scene that Harrison Ford Had to Film in Indiana Jones

Filming the ‘Indiana Jones’ saga has not been easy for Harrison Ford, but perhaps no scene was more excruciating to film than when he had to take off his pants to finish it.

This weekend the new and final installment of the iconic saga created by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg hit theaters: Indiana Jones. More than 40 years have passed since we were first introduced to Indy’s adventures and now it’s time to say goodbye in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate, a film in which the inveterate archaeologist turns to face the evil nazis.

Since 2008 we have not seen Harrison Ford use the characteristic whip and wear his fedora, since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was believed to be the last film in the franchise, which allowed us to see the character extremely in love at the altar contracting marriage to the bold Marion (Karen Allen), with whom he had his son Mutt (Shia LaBeouf). But 15 years later he returned for a new mission, only this time instead of throwing himself into danger and discoveries with his firstborn, it will be his goddaughter who guides him on a new journey.

Phoebe Waller Bridge plays Helena Shaw, the goddaughter of Indiana Jones, becoming the mythical character’s new companion in exploits. While these young actors have accompanied Ford in the last two films, it was in the third film that Indy’s father, Henry Jones Sr. himself, was the one who was always by his intrepid son’s side in the search for the Holy Grail. , which was also coveted by the Nazis.

Masterfully set to music by John Williams, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade shows us why Henry Jones Jr. is the way he is and where his fondness for relics and history came from. Sean Connery, who gave life to James Bond for 20 years, was the great Scottish actor who played the father of the protagonist. In the film they show us the trajectory that has stops in Italy, Austria, Germany, so both actors had to shoot in various places, giving rise to a peculiar anecdote on one of the sets.

According to the film’s making-of documentary that is available on YouTube, during the scene where Indy and his father are sitting at the table of the zeppelin they are traveling in after escaping from the Nazis talking, the set temperatures were so high that they couldn’t take it anymore and the two took off their pants to better deal with the unbearable heat. Because the scene only filmed their upper bodies, the change in costumes did not affect the execution of the scene.

If you did not know this curious fact, now you will no longer see that sequence in the same way. Remember that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is being screened in Cinemex and Cinépolis theaters and you can buy your tickets here. It’s finally time to say goodbye to Harrison Ford as Indy, so you might want to take a look at this recap of the saga before heading to the theater.
