The entire grant of IDR 130 billion for the Sriwijaya Mosque sold out as a state loss

The Indonesian Attorney General’s Office again announces the development of a case of alleged development corruption Sriwijaya Mosque Palembang involving the former Governor of South Sumatra, Alex Noerdin. In this case, the state loss is estimated to reach Rp 130 billion.

“The construction of the Palembang Sriwijaya Mosque is also not finished, as a result of these irregularities it has cost the state finances amounting to Rp. 130 billion,” said the Head of the AGO, Leonard Eben Ezer in a virtual press conference, Wednesday (22/9/2021).

Loenard also explained the distribution of funds for the construction of this mosque. Funds were disbursed in two tranches in 2015 and 2017.

“That first, the South Sumatra Provincial Government has distributed grant funds to the Waqf Foundation of the Sriwijaya Mosque in Palembang for development Sriwijaya Mosque Palembang with the first details in 2015 using the 2015 APBD funds to distribute grants of Rp 50 billion,” he said.

“Secondly in 2017 using the 2017 APBD funds of Rp 80 billion,” he continued.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office named former South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin as a suspect in the development grant case Sriwijaya Mosque Palembang. The determination of the suspect was confirmed by the Assistant for Special Crimes at the South Sumatra High Court (Sumsel) Victor Antonius Saragih.

In this case, Alex Noerdin is said to have received a cash flow of Rp 2.4 billion related to the Sriwijaya Palembang Grand Mosque construction project. This was conveyed by the public prosecutor (JPU) during a hearing at the Palembang District Court.
