Sony has detailed several new points concerning the future PlayStation 5. Starting with the compatibility of the DualShock 4 controller.
And the manufacturer’s answer is clear: if players want to play two-player on a PlayStation 5 game, you will need to buy a second DualSense controller. According to the company, “PS5 games need to make the most of the new capabilities and features we are bringing to this platform, including the functionality of the DualSense wireless controller.”
The DualSense will therefore be essential, although players will be able to continue using the DualShock 4, as well as “third-party controllers officially licensed by PlayStation”, To play PlayStation 4 games.
As for other accessories, Sony has released a list of everything that will continue to work on its new console :
- Special officially licensed peripherals such as racing wheels, arcade sticks or joysticks will work with PS5 games and PS4 games supported.
- Platinum and Gold wireless headphones as well as third-party headsets that connect via the USB port or headphone jack will work on PS5 (the headset companion app, however, is not compatible with the PS5).
- PS Move motion controllers and PlayStation VR aim controller will work with PS VR games supported on PS5.
And who says VR, says PlayStation Camera, a mandatory accessory to operate the headset. And if the camera will be compatible with supported VR games, Sony indicates that it will require “an adapter, which will be provided free of charge to all PS VR users.”
