the DualSense is bigger than the PS4 controller (and that’s good)

Geoff Keighley, a figure in the video game industry, had the immense privilege of taking charge of the DualSense, the controller of the PlayStation 5.

Geoff Keighley, organizer of The Game Awards, the equivalent of the Oscars for video games, had the immense privilege of placing his hands on a DualSense – controller of the PlayStation 5. He delivered his first impressions in a video shared on July 17 on YouTube. He also published a comparative photo with the DualShock 4, the opportunity to see that the pad of the PS5 is bigger.

Is this bad news? No. The DualShock 4 is a very tight controller, which can quickly cause cramps to those who have large hands. Geoff Keighley points out that the DualSense weighs a little more than the DualShock 4 but is not ” much heavier ” no more. He even believes that these few extra grams on the scale are positive in terms of comfort and ergonomics.

A first opinion on the DualSense of the PS5

Geoff Keighley at pu tester la DualSense with Astro’s PlayRoom, compilation of activities that will be provided with the PS5. It highlights the different functions of the controller, such as haptic feedback – which replaces simple vibrations – and adaptive triggers. The interested party notes that the immersion is much better, with a good feeling of what is happening on the screen, and sees good potential for the future.

Like the Nintendo DS, the DualSense is equipped with a microphone in which we can breathe to interact with the environment. There is also a loudspeaker to broadcast close sounds (example: the sound of a key when you open a door). However, it is to be hoped that the developers will bend to the game and adapt their projects to the specifics of DualSense. The DualShock 4 already had a few different features – the speaker, the touchpad – and they weren’t used often.

Remember that Microsoft has opted for continuity with regard to the joystick of the Xbox Series X : it has changed little compared to that of the Xbox One. The Redmond company pushed the transition smoothly to make the accessories of the old console compatible with the Xbox Series X.
