The drought has laid bare the horrors of Lake Mead. Divers find more and more human remains

Abrupt climate change has brought to light the darkest secrets of this body of water.

For decades, scientists have argued that we should be wary of global warming and the dramatic climate change that will follow. Already today we can observe how the climate is changing: large-scale forest fires destroy gigantic green areas, wiping out all life in their path, a landslide in Alaska risks turning into one of the largest tsunamis in human history and a drought that now and then he reveals the secrets hidden under the water column, he writes CNN.

The last few years have been too dry: a multi-year drought has stripped the colors of the leaves of the trees in the United Kingdom and in the United States the water supply of Lake Mead has suffered. As a result, the remains, hidden for so long under the water column, appeared on the surface due to the retreat of the coast of the artificial reservoir.

The first terrible discovery was discovered here in May. Then the drought exposed a rusted tin barrel with traces of bullets, and a man’s body was later found in the barrel. According to Clark County Coroner Melanie Rose, they were able to establish that the man died in the 1970s and 1980s, it is still difficult to identify him by DNA analysis alone.

Over the next week, the remains of another man were found in the lake, and forensic scientists identified him as a 42-year-old man, apparently drowned. Body fragments were found here and later, the latest machines were found on Lake Mead in October, in total, coroners confirmed that the bones belonged to six different people.

Note that it is still unclear how many more remains may be preserved at the bottom of Lake Mead and what other unpleasant “surprises” the drought will exhibit. Scientists note that the drop in water levels due to drought has also led to the discovery of relics, a sunken boat, a WWII landing craft and ancient volcanic rock. Scientists find similar finds in different parts of the world.

Previously Focus wrote about 13 artifacts exposed to drought. Including “starving stones” in the Czech Republic and dinosaur footprints.
