Nadia Frolova, deputy chief physician for nephrology at the Moscow Clinical Hospital No. 2, in a conversation with Moscow Says, said that vitamin D should be taken only when monitoring the level of calcium and phosphorus in the blood, writes RIA News.

She emphasized that this vitamin has nephrotoxicity, that is, it can lead to kidney damage.

“With hypercalcemia (excessive calcium), we can get a serious kidney damage,” said Nadia Frolova
